CSBMRDD
CSBMRDD provides direct services, contract services and funding for approximately two thousand eligible individuals in Summit County.
- The Intake Department is the starting point for any request for County Board programs and services. The first step is to determine eligibility of the student. This should be done at the age of 16 years.
- Students requesting Adult Services after graduation will be placed on an Adult Services Registry until about one year prior to graduation. It is important for the student, family or caretaker, and teachers to keep the intake department informed as to when the student is actually graduating.
- The County Board works closely with Summit County school districts and the Bureau of Vocational Rehabilitation to provide school-to-work transition services to graduating students.

Community Based Vocational Training (CBVT)
The Community Based Vocational Training program (CBVT) is a cooperative program between the County of Summit Board of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities (CSMR/DD) and public schools within Summit County. It focuses on sharing resources to assist eligible students with cognitive disabilities, orthopedic impairments and multiple disabilities in developing skills for employment. Students are selected and referred to the program by public school staff. Teachers from County of Summit Board of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities (CSBMR/DD) provide students with actual community work experience as part of each student’s high school vocational curricula.
C.A.D.E.T.
(Career Academy for Development, Employment and Training)
The C.A.D.E.T. program is also a cooperative vocational effort between the CSBMR/DD and Summit County public schools. C.A.D.E.T. was designed to provide eligible students who have completed all their academic credits additional vocational experience before graduating and transitioning into independent employment. Participating students are transported to a work place each day, five days a week for that school year instead of to their local high school. Both volunteer and paid work sites are utilized. C.A.D.E.T. staff assist students in developing and refining both interpersonal skills and vocational skills specific to the site. The goal of the program is to assist students and their families in the student’s transition to independent employment.
